Servus
München

Bavaria Studios · Bavaria Fiction · Bavaria Film Gruppe · Blauer Panther — TV & Streaming Award

The biggest party of the festival, on the backlot street of the Bavaria Studios. As official partner we developed the social media and blue carpet concept as an agency and delivered the evening on site as a production company.

By the next morning the party was over.
So was the budget for it.

That is the problem with events. They cost like a campaign and work like one evening. 1,500 guests were there; the rest of the industry only heard about it.

what was needed

Nobody ordered the live stream.

It was our idea. “Servus München” gathers half the industry on one evening a year, and anyone not standing on that backlot street sees none of it. A stream from the blue carpet brings exactly those people in, live and without a detour.

Michael Hilscher, Head of Production at the Bavaria Studios, watched that idea with some worry at first, and fairly so: a live stream is the item most likely to fall over on a night like that, and it runs in front of precisely the people you do not want to get it wrong in front of.

Standing on the same carpet was the Blauer Panther TV & Streaming Award. Marie-Charlotte Praetorius, who runs it, wanted more attention for the award. That is exactly what the stream was for. So what both houses needed came down to the same thing: for this evening to land beyond the evening. And for more of it to last than a hangover.

what we did differently

We did not document the evening. We built it so the guests could take it with them.

There was a photo station at the entrance. Anyone who wanted it had their portrait on their phone two minutes later, ready for their own story. On the blue carpet an interview setup let the guests speak for themselves, and a live stream went out for everyone who was not in Munich.

That is pull instead of push, the way we run every campaign: we interrupted nobody, we gave them a reason. By the end of the night every guest had something they wanted to show. Not for us, for themselves.

The photo station: shoot the portrait, scan, post.

239 times guests tagged the channels in their stories that single evening. Nobody asked them to.

what it produced

The live stream ran, and over a thousand people watched. That alone paid the idea back on the night. What happened afterwards is the more interesting part.

€0

media budget on our channel. Not one euro on ads, all of it grown organically.

4 in 5

views came from people who did not follow the channels before. Exactly the audience you otherwise never reach.

Buying that visibility as advertising would have cost around €14,000. Nobody spent it.

Calculated at a €10 cost per thousand impressions, the usual midpoint. Part of that reach belongs to the Bavaria channels and the Blauer Panther, which have their audience without us. Our share was the concept and the evening itself. We don't sell you our time, we sell what comes out of it.

what our partners say

Whether we understood the right thing is best answered by the people who brought us in.

“What Jakob, Lino and Johannes delivered at the Bavaria Filmfest party on the blue carpet was simply next level. They completely exceeded my expectations! Working together was highly professional, extremely constructive and genuinely enjoyable – an absolute highlight of the year.”
Marie-Charlotte Praetorius Head of Blauer Panther – TV & Streaming Award
“With [k]eine produktion my first big fear was that we would end up with [k]ein live stream at all on the carpet for the biggest party of Filmfest München … The exact opposite was the case: we not only had a sensationally well and professionally organised live stream on Insta, afterwards the industry showered us with positive feedback and terrific Instagram KPIs. What more could we ask for? [K]eine Angst about Jakob, Johannes & Lino. They deliver. 100%.”
